- During the last session of the quarter, financial markets traded cautiously amid concerns on inflation, fiscal uncertainty in the U.S. and ahead of relevant economic data releases today.
- In particular, investors will focus today on the September release of the final PMI figures for the main advanced and emerging economies and the euro area’s inflation figures (we expect it to increase 0.3 pp to 3.3%). Germany’s inflation rose this month by 0.7 pp to 4.1%, a 29-year high.
- In this context, the main stock indices posted moderate losses (the S&P registered its worst month since March 2020) while yields on sovereign bonds edged slightly down in the U.S. and increased in the euro area. In FX markets, the euro weakened further below $1.16.
- In commodity markets, gas prices continued to increase while the barrel of Brent remained stable above $78.
