- Rising coronavirus infections continued to weigh on investor sentiment and markets exhibited a lower risk appetite in yesterday's session. Stocks declined across Europe and posted moderate losses in the U.S. EM equities were mixed, advancing modestly in Asia and dropping in Latin America.
- In fixed-income markets, yields on U.S. and European sovereign bonds declined while euro area peripheral spreads were little changed. In FX markets, the USD steadied against the other major currencies.
- Commodity prices recovered some ground and Brent oil prices rose above $41 as some producers shut down ahead of an approaching storm.
- On the data front, U.S. consumer confidence nudged down in October according to the Conference Board Index (100.9 points; Sep.: 101.3). In Spain, employment recovered significantly in Q3 according to the quarterly LFS.
